| The Unity Candle Ceremony consists of the lighting of a central candle, from two separate candles held by the bride and groom. This ceremony symbolizes the union of two lives into one. Creative variations can be lovely additions to the ceremony, such as the mothers of the bride and groom, or any designated member of the wedding party, lighting the candles after they walk down the isle. The best man and maid of honor then at the appropriate time hand the lighted candles to the bride and groom. I then recite an inspirational prayer as the bride and groom join their flame, uniting their hearts, while lighting the large central candle. Each year on their anniversary this lovely tradition could celebrate their love and marriage. |
